One of our council members shares what community life means to them and why they feel fortunate to call a Freedom Village home."

Living in a Freedom Village is about so much more than having a beautiful home. It's about belonging to a genuine community where friendships flourish, neighbours look out for one another, and there is always something happening.

Life here offers countless opportunities to get involved, learn new things, and enjoy the company of others. Each month we welcome guest speakers who share valuable and interesting insights on a range of topics. Recently, we hosted members of the police, who provided practical advice on recognising scams and protecting ourselves from fraud.

An important part of my own journey is serving as a Justice of the Peace. I am grateful to continue using those skills within our village community, whether that means witnessing documents, offering guidance, or simply being available when someone needs a helping hand. I firmly believe that community life is not only about the support we receive, but also about the contributions we make to enrich the lives of others.

Of course, community life should be enjoyable too. Friday evenings are a wonderful opportunity to gather with friends for drinks and entertainment, while our Thursday morning baking competitions bring plenty of laughter, friendly rivalry, and delicious treats.

Our village van also plays a special role in keeping us connected. Whether it's a trip to the local markets, grocery shopping, a day out to see the snow, or the occasional fish and chips excursion, these outings provide opportunities to share experiences and create lasting memories.



For me, what truly makes my Freedom Village special is the sense of belonging. It is found in the friendships, the shared laughter, the willingness to help one another, and the knowledge that you are part of a caring community. I feel incredibly fortunate to call my Freedom Village home
